mehendi

A beloved Indian wedding tradition, the Mehendi is a joyful celebration where the bride and her guests adorn their hands with intricate designs—each swirl symbolizing love, luck, and happiness. Hidden within the bride’s design is the groom’s name, and it’s his challenge to find it—a lighthearted ritual that sets the tone for all the celebrations to come.

The Mehendi will take place poolside at the Taj West End hotel where guests can unwind and enjoy a refreshing dip (if they wish) and a leisurely brunch. For guests staying off property, shuttles and cars will pick you up from your hotel lobby by 11:45 a.m. and return transportation will be available once the event concludes.

The Sangeet will be held at the Taj West End's Grand Ballroom. For guests staying off property, shuttles and cars will pick you up from your hotel lobby by 7:00 p.m. and return transportation will be available once the event concludes.

baraat

The Baraat marks the groom's arrival to the wedding ceremony and consists of a lively procession filled with music, color, and celebration. Led by energetic dhol drummers, the groom, along with family and friends, dance their way to the ceremony in true festive spirit. Before the Baraat begins, the men will have their turbans tied, while guests enjoy an early round of cocktails. As the procession reaches the ceremony venue, the groom’s party will be welcomed by the bride’s family.

The Baraat will begin at the Veranda of the Taj West End's Grand Ballroom, and wind its way through the hotel’s lush pathways to the ceremony venue. For guests staying off- property, shuttles and cars will be ready to pick you up from your hotels at 4 p.m. Please assemble in the lobby by 3:45 p.m.

Ceremony & Reception

The wedding will be a traditional Hindu ceremony rooted in Vedic scriptures, complete with sacred rites, offerings, and the chanting of Sanskrit prayers before a consecrated fire. It honors not only the spiritual union of the bride and groom, but also the joining of two families and two cultures in auspicious harmony.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Prince of Wales Lawns at the Taj West End, followed by a cocktail hour starting at 6:30 p.m. and a reception party at 7:30 p.m. Guests will gather in the West End Court Pavilion for drinks, dinner, and a lively evening of music and dancing in celebration of the newlyweds. For guests staying off- property, return transportation will be available once the event concludes.
